INCLEMENT WEATHER INSTRUCTIONS
The recent snow has caused ice dams to form. The melting snow and coming rain are sure to bring flooding. Be sure to read the following information to help you deal with possible losses.

In the event that our agency in closed, refer to the information provided for procedures to be followed. Do not call the Erie Home Office or Branches for general inquiries or policy changes as you will only be redirected to our office.

Please contact our office on the following business day. If your call can wait, you may find it easier to reach us two days after the closure as we usually experience a high call volume immediately following a closure.

It is your responsibility to do whatever possible to recover and protect the property from further damage. You should document any damage or emergency repairs and keep any damaged property in case the adjuster requests it. Remember to notify us during normal office hours.
GROUND WATER WHICH CAUSES FLOODING AND/OR SEEPAGE IS NOT A COVERED LOSS - Be sure to do everything possible to mitigate your damage. SEE SUGGESTIONS BELOW.

_______SUGGESTIONS:_______________________________________________
Remove snow from the area around the downspouts, basement window wells and outside stairs.
Remove snow from decks and, if safe, from roofs to prevent ice dams and/or collapse.
Check your sump pump periodically to make sure it is working properly. Use wet vacs, fans and dehumidifier to keep the area dry should the pump fail.
Remove snow from the street storm sewer so that water can run off properly.
Remove gutters filled with ice to prevent damage from water leaking into your home.
